Prime Minister Inspects “Ateco Pharma Egypt” Plant for Pharmaceuticals and Medical Solutions
During his tour today of projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by his delegation, inspected the “Ateco Pharma Egypt” pharmaceutical project.
Dr. Madbouly listened to a briefing by Eng. Waheed Atiek, Vice Chairman of Ateco Pharma, who explained that the project specializes in producing intravenous medical solutions and high-tech pharmaceuticals. It is considered the first and largest pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, with investments exceeding one billion EGP, in addition to ongoing expansions. The project delivers significant added value, as its intravenous medical solutions are classified as strategic pharmaceutical products.
Atiek highlighted that the plant is equipped with the latest global technology in the field, with all production lines operating automatically in compliance with the Egyptian Drug Authority’s requirements and international good manufacturing practices (GMP). The project meets local market needs while dedicating the majority of its output for export to African markets, COMESA countries, Arab nations, and some European markets. This supports self-sufficiency, generates foreign currency, and enhances Egyptian exports.
The company representative further noted that the plant is built on a 20,000 m² area in the first industrial sector in Ain Sokhna, with an annual production capacity of 35 million bottles of intravenous solutions in various types and sizes. The facility provides around 500 direct jobs and more than 1,200 indirect employment opportunities.
